Coins, Measures and Weight in DR Congo

The Coin Denomination

The currency unit is franc (symbol F, currency code CDF) of 100 centimes. There is no separator in circulation. Franc was introduced after the change of power in 1997 and replaced the former currency unit zaire (à 100 makuta) in the exchange ratio 1 franc = 100,000 zaire. The zaire unit was introduced in 1967, but was replaced by a new zaire by a currency cleanup in 1993, when 3 million “old” zaire were set equal to one new one.
