Coming from Johannesburg take the R24 to the airport; coming from Pretoria the R21.

Public transportation

Public transport – street:

Bus : There are good public transport connections between the city centers and suburbs of Johannesburg and Pretoria.

Magic Bus (Tel: (011) 548 0822) offers regular connections to Sun City and other popular locations. An office of the company is located on the ground floor of the parking garage for domestic travelers.

Shuttle : Airport Link (Tel: (011) 794 8300; Internet: www.airportlink.co.za ) and EZ Shuttle (Tel: 0861 397 488; Internet: www.ezshuttle.co.za ) run from the airport to Johannesburg city center . The large hotels have their own shuttle service, departures are approximately every 15 minutes from the bus station behind the Airport Sun International Hotel. Mini buses are inexpensive.

taxi: Official airport taxis and shuttle buses (ACSA) depart from International Terminal A, and the journey to the city center takes around 30-45 minutes. Licensed taxis can be recognized by the yellow letters on the roof. Fare: approx. 500 R.

Public transport – train:

The Gautrain  train (website: www.gautrain.co.za) currently operates daily 5:30 to 20:30 between the airport and Sandton (travel time: 15 min.) And Malboro (travel time: 10 min.). Intermediate stops are Rhodesfield and Marlboro. From Sandton Station there is a connection to the Gautrain Rapid Rail Link to Tshwane (Pretoria).

ATMs, a bank and exchange offices are located in the international arrival and departure halls.

Means of communication:

There is a post office. Mobile phone rental is also available. In the international departure area, fee-based internet access is available via W-LAN.

Gastronomy:

There are numerous restaurants, bars, cafes, fast food restaurants and a juice bar.

Shopping:

There is a wide range of shops, including a duty-free shop, a flower shop, a jewelry store, sports, clothing, confectionery and sunglasses stores, a bookshop and a newsagents.

Luggage:

There is luggage storage (tel: (011) 390 1804). Porters are available in the arrival halls and can be recognized by their orange uniform and ACSA ID – a tip is recommended. Travelers should avoid unauthorized porters.

Other facilities:

A prayer room for Muslim travelers, a children’s playground and a pharmacy are available. An ambulance is located in the domestic arrival hall.

Meeting rooms of different sizes and equipped with conference facilities are located in the Premier Conference Center (Tel: (011) 390 1084) in the domestic arrivals hall in Terminal 3. Facilities include telephone and fax machines as well as secretarial services.

The airport’s business center (Tel: (011) 921 6262) offers various business facilities, including telephones, fax machines, and secretarial services.

Some nearby hotels also have conference facilities.

Accessibility facilities:

Disabled parking spaces are available in all airport parking spaces and in the new parking garage and provide direct access to the terminal buildings. The free shuttle bus that runs between the terminals and the parking lots is wheelchair accessible. Disabled ID holders can park for free in the reserved disabled parking spaces. Disabled travelers who do not have a disability card should contact the ACSA JIA service desk (tel: (011) 921 62 62). Elevators with buttons in Braille lettering and wheelchair ramps are available.

Parking spaces:

A seven-story, modern parking garage with more than 5,000 parking spaces was put into operation in 2009. Lamps above the parking spaces indicate whether they are free or assigned (red – occupied, green – free, blue – for the disabled). The airport information service (Tel: (086) 727 78 88) provides information about the parking spaces.
Parking spaces for short-term and long-term parking are available. A free shuttle bus service runs around the clock every 6 minutes between the terminals and the parking lots. Payment of parking fees: Take the ticket on arrival and pay at the machine at the entrance to the parking lot before picking up the car. A parking service from Executive Carports (Tel: 011 390 2062, Internet: www.executivecarport.co.za) is also available.
